Direct Source™ - Accessibility Check & Fix Software

Direct Source™ is a unique proprietary software developed by Web Space Station^® to help bringing your applications into accessibility compliance. It differs from other software tools available in a way that it finds accessibility violations directly in the source code, not in the resulting HTML code. Such method allows to significantly speed up the process of retrofitting. It supports and fixes violations in applications written in Perl, Java/JSP, C/C++, Python, PHP, and ASP. At the moment this software is a set of custom-tailored scripts. We are working on the commercial version of this software.

Let us draw as an example a modern Web site made in JSP – Java Server Pages. A typical Web page in this case is generated from many parts:

• An include file which usually holds uppermost menu bar
• An include file to provide copyright and other information at the bottom of the page
• Page source code (JSP page itself)
• Java Beans or other library components which are usually used to generate contents

Now, to fix a violation, a developer needs to understand all underlying logic and check many source code files. If there are 10 violations, a developer can spend a few hours to fix just one page, if not half a day.

Tools like InFocus™ and Bobby check the resulting HTML code only and to fix a violation a programmer needs to understand how the page is generated. Our Direct Source™ technology allows to find 80-90% of violations directly in the source code. Additional time is saved by other convenient features like opening developer’s editor directly at the place where a violation is found, possibility to autofix violations, generating reports in different formats and progress tracking.
